Accessibility is one of Aviation Services UK’s top priorities. We are committed to ensuring that every passenger can travel with dignity, confidence, and ease.

As part of this commitment, Aviation Services UK (ASUK) has joined forces with the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) and Sunrise Medical to establish the Aviation Accessibility Panel (AAP) — an industry-first expert group dedicated to improving the experience of airline passengers who use mobility aids.

The Panel builds on the work of the Government’s Aviation Accessibility Task and Finish Group, chaired by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE, DL, whose report set out 19 recommendations to make UK aviation more accessible. ASUK is proud to have served as a member of that Group and to be helping lead the next stage of implementation as part of the Aviation Accessibility Implementation Group.

Through the AAP, ASUK and its partners are driving progress on key recommendations focused on mobility aid design and handling, developing best practice, improving training, and supporting innovation that reduces the risk of damage to mobility equipment. This collaboration brings together airports, airlines, manufacturers and service providers including British Airways, EasyJet, Jet2, Virgin Atlantic, Manchester Airports Group, and London Heathrow; all working towards a shared goal: to make air travel more inclusive for everyone.

Our focus is clear: to maintain momentum, deliver practical solutions, and help ensure that accessibility is embedded across every stage of the passenger journey.
